Crayons are a perfect addition to the tote

If you are on the go with kids, whether it be traveling by plane to an exotic resort or simply driving by car to grandma's house, you should always be armed with the Super-Mom Travel Tote. You can avoid unnecessary roadside stops, digging into huge suitcases and other nuisances by simply creating your own travel tote. Here are instructions on how to create a travel tote packed with all the basic necessities: toys, snacks, games, entertainment, maps and more.

Start with the Right Tote Bag

To get the right tote, look for a bag that is large, roomy and sturdy. Be aware of airline restrictions on carry-on bag sizes, of course. You want to have plenty of room to stuff myriad goodies inside. It wouldn't hurt to have a small zipper compartment up high for the little pieces.

Get the Right Supplies

Now, you want to make it easy on yourself when you are looking for items during the high stress of a family trip. Buy large and small ziplock bags. For crayons and stickers, or even games and their pieces, I suggest getting school pencil boxes.

Start Packing your Travel Necessities

Think of what you and the kids will want immediately. I recommend a good mix to keep growling stomachs at bay and boredom away. A good list would include:

* Small toys

* Snacks (and save money by packing them yourself into the small Ziplock bags)

* Travel games (trivia cards are nice, since everyone can get involved)

* Portable game systems and a couple games

* Books

* Coloring books

* Maps for your route

* Guidebooks on your destination (fun to read, but which also can have important information like contact numbers for tourism offices and hotels)

* Napkins or wipes for quick cleanup jobs

* Doodle pads

* Portable DVD players and DVDs

* Print-outs of confirmations, phone numbers and directions for any reservations you have for accomodations

Load your Tote Carefully

Try not to bury anything, or you will have defeated the whole purpose of the quick-draw travel tote. It helps to slide everything in on its side when it comes to books and maps, while tucking odd-shaped items like snack pouches and games on the other side. Use large ziplock bags to contain similar items together.

Keep it at Your Feet

Whether you're in the car, on a ship, on a bus, traveling by air, keep your Super-Mom travel tote at your feet (or at dad's feet). Have it ready in a moment's notice for when the whining and complaining from the kids start, or when you suddenly realize you're lost. With the travel tote, you are ready to handle almost any request that arises.
