It isn't all that odd to plan a trip around a Christmas tree. Some of the world's most amazing decorated Christmas trees are extremely popular travel destinations, especially with kids who will be awed by these towering beauties. Here are some of the top destinations to see impressive and amazing decorated Christmas trees.

New York Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree

Easily the most famous family trip to see Christmas trees is to enjoy the amazing display at Rockefeller Center in New York City. This year's tree is an amazing 84 feet high and 48 feet in diameter. It is topped with a Swarovski crystal star, and it is lit daily from 5:30 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. through January 8. It also uses green practices to reduce the environmental impact.

National Christmas Tree in Washington, DC

This particular destination is interesting for parents who want a fun way to teach kids about geography. There is the impressive National Christmas Tree at the White House, but there are also smaller Christmas trees representing each state in the U.S.
