Bowmanville's annual festivals are great small town community events for anyone to enjoy old fashioned fun.

Over 150 years old, the small town of Bowmanville, Ontario enjoys a history that has imprinted itself into the sidewalks and buildings and trees. Among its many community events, Bowmanville enjoys three main festivals during the warmer months and two main events during cooler weather. Spring and summer events include Maple Festival and All That Jazz, Fabulous Fifties Festival, and Midnight Madness. Fall and winter events include Apple Festival and Craft Sale, and Moonlight Magic.

Maple Festival and All That Jazz

Celebrating maple tree tapping and famous maple syrup, Maple Festival comes in early May and is enjoyed by many, rain or shine. Maple Festival doubles as a busker festival, as small groups from the area come to entertain with music. The festival is a great place to find homemade maple syrup and fudge, all kinds of amusement and to listen to fun local music.

Fabulous Fifties Festival

This fun ride in mid June each summer is like a classic car show that is free to attend. Fabulous Fifties Festival promotes local shopping with a sidewalk sale and turns downtown Bowmanville into a parking lot for classic cars that date back usually from the early 30s to the late 80s. The festival is a great time for buskers to be heard as well.

Moonlight Madness

Also promoting local shopping, Midnight Madness is held every year in mid-August. The festival is a great time to shop, as participating downtown stores remain open late and many have sales for the evening. This festival is enjoyed by many and many people keep a tradition of coming in pyjamas.

These summer festivals are accompanied each year by a plethora of community events including Rib Fest, Annual Duck Derby and Concerts in the Park. For more on these events, visit Bowmanville. Cool weather brings in events that are just as well enjoyed as the summer festivals, including Apple Festival and Moonlight Magic.

Apple Festival and Craft Sale

Just as Maple Festival celebrates maple syrup and buskers, Apple Festival is a celebration of the apple harvest in mid October. A notoriously rainy but well enjoyed day, Apple Festival ushers in the harvest as does Thanksgiving. Apple festival is a great time to shop and to find anything apple – apples, apple pie, apple dumplings, apple fritters and more.

Moonlight Magic

Held each year in early December, Moonlight Magic celebrates Christmas joy with a fun concert for the whole family, sleigh rides, hot apple cider and much more. Stores remain open late to promote local shopping. It is usually on a cold evening, but not for those bundled up and enjoying themselves.

These fun community events hail back to a time of small town leisure, a slower lifestyle and an overall friendly atmosphere. They also look to a future of prosperity and a continuing celebration of community.
