Historic Indiana Beach, located on Lake Shafer in rural Monticello, IN, offers visitors a variety of ride options along the Boardwalk, from children’s rides to thrill rides, without the long lines and stifling crowds. Indiana Beach Amusement Park
The rides at Indiana Beach vary in range from the classic Kiddyland area to Indiana’s largest all-steel coaster, the Steel Hawg.
Kiddyland, an area designed for the littlest riders, delights even the tiniest of tots with rides such as motorcycles, boats, classic cars, and a merry-go-round complete with horses. A train can be boarded for a relaxing ride around the boardwalk.
For the older, more thrill-seeking adventurers, Indiana Beach offers six roller coasters, including the newest coaster opened in 2009, the Steel Hawg, which is nearly ten stories high, and the famous Cornball Express. The Den of Lost Thieves, the Gondola, and the Whizzer are just a few of the other numerous rides at Indiana Beach.
Indiana Beach Ideal Beach Waterpark
Also located on the Boardwalk along Lake Shafer is Indiana Beach’s fully-equipped waterpark. With six water slides, an action river, splash bar, and swimming area with sandy beach, visitors can spend an entire day slipping and sliding, or floating peacefully.
Indiana Beach Lodging
Many options, including camping and hotels are available for vacationers who are looking to stay overnight, whether to take in the scenery or take advantage of Indiana Beach’s 2 or 3-day passes.
Indiana Beach RV Resort and Jellystone RV Resort are located within walking distance of the amusement park, offering sites with RV hookups or standard campsites for those prefer to pitch a tent.
For those who desire accommodations that more resemble home, the Beach House Inn, Boardwalk Motel, and Indiana Beach cottages are located directly on the grounds of Indiana Beach. Other local lodging options include Hoosier Pointe, Beach Club, and Ideal Beach Suites.
Dining and Nightlife
Reasonably priced food vendors are conveniently located along the boardwalk, offering treats from tacos and polish sausage to ice cream and elephant ears.
Also available is the Skyroom Restaurant, located above the Boardwalk, with a family-friendly fine dining.
For the 21 and over crowd, the Roof Garden Lounge overlooks Lake Shafer, providing visitors with a place to unwind with a drink and live music.
Operating Hours and Rates
Open early May through Early September, Indiana Beach’s operating hours vary. Entry onto the Boardwalk is free, and wristbands or tickets must be purchased for access to rides. Current prices range between $12.95 per person and $36.95 per person, depending on age and whether the ticket is for just the amusement park or if it includes the waterpark.
