Momcations are a great way for moms who are constantly under demands from work and family to getaway, relax, and bond with fellow moms.

There are so many ways to plan a great momcation, and so many destinations and adventures ideal for moms, that it is important to just discuss what works for you and your fellow moms. It should be a momcation everyone should enjoy.

What is a Momcation?

A momcation is akin to the previously popular mancation, but in the momcation a group of moms meets up at a getaway destination for some mom/girlfriend only fun. It typically involves a group of moms who live in different areas of the country and who meet up in a destination, but certainly local mom friends can getaway too.

Where Does One Find Momcation Moms?

Many times, momcations involve moms who have been friends for a long time (even years) online and never met in person. It can also be fun to find old high school, college or workplace buddies from your single years to reconnect with post-kids.

You could even find some fellow PTA or playgroup moms in your local town and plan a getaway, perhaps even one just a short drive away. If you work, consider asking a few moms from your job along on a momcation.

Where Do You Momcation?

The options here are almost endless, and should be tailored closely to the group of moms who will be doing. Here are a few ideas to get the momcation juices flowing:

  • A mom conference or convention targeted at moms. Think there aren't any? Mom Summit 2.0. BlissDom and BlogHer are conferences that are more targeted to female bloggers, but rest assured there are many moms there cutting loose and, if you blog, it can make a wonderful momcation.
  • A Disney momcation can be a lot of fun. Imagine getting away to Disney World, which already caters to both kids and moms, without the kids? Or perhaps with the kids, but with a couple mom-only fun evenings?
  • A spa momcation or any sort of pampering resort-type getaway is perfect for moms. Moms spend so much of their time caring for others that even a weekend of self-care can work wonders.
  • The urban shopping momcation is fun for moms who perhaps miss city life (and have moved to the suburbs) or just love to shop (and would enjoy doing some of it to buy themselves something for once, and without navigating strollers down aisles).

The momcation can be a wonderful getaway for moms who allow so little time to just enjoy themselves. No matter where or how you do it, just be sure to do it at least once a year. It is important for moms to get a little break, a little me-time, from a momcation.
