As Barack Obama is sworn into the Presidential Office in January, will the top 3 USA travel destinations for 2009 be Washington DC, Illinois and Chicago, and Hawaii?

What new trends will these three regions have to offer a tourist? There are plenty things to do and interests to keep people active in these regions. It may sound a bit corny, a prediction for an all-American vacation may be the remedy for people now.

Washington DC Vacation Trend

In Washington DC, activities for the Presidential Inauguration are already sold out. A tip to remember is that the new President does have a four year term. People may explore many fun things to see and do during these four years around Washington D.C. during vacations. Besides the many excellent tourist attractions and possibly see the President in the Oval Office, a few Events to mark on calendars are:

  • In March, the National Cherry Blossom Festival is from March 28 – April 12 with a Parade on Saturday April 4

A tip from the "DC Insider" is to taste delicious cup of $5 hot cocoa at Murky Coffee on 7th Street (near Eastern Market).

Illinois and Chicago Vacation Trend

In America’s heartland, Chicago, lies next to Lake Michigan in Illinois. This is an alluring region for lake fans with plenty of aquatic activities. A favorite family vacation is to begin in Chicago and drive around Lake Michigan. Explore the unique towns around this vast lake. One such area a visitor will see is the Starved Rock State Park in the northern part of the Illinois.

Another vacation in the state of Illinois is to follow the Presidential Trail. There are plenty tourist attractions to see as one travels through USA history of FOUR dignitaries which Illinois is proud of:

  • Abraham Lincoln, 16th president
  • Ulysses S. Grant, 18th president
  • Ronald Reagan, 40th president
  • Barack Obama – 44th (soon to be in office, January 2009)

Other attractions either in or around Chicago:

  • Wrigley’s Field – home of the Chicago Cubs or purchase tickets to Barack Obama’s favorite baseball team, the Chicago White Sox
  • Navy Pier is located right on Lake Michigan where one may visit the Chicago Children's Museum, the Chicago Shakespeare Theatre, an IMAX theater, and unique shops and restaurants.

  • Six Flags Great America located north of Chicago with the latest in roller coasters and family fun entertainment.
  • Frank Lloyd Wright Home and Studio which served as Wright’s private residences and studio for a short time is a definite attraction for architecture enthusiasts.

Tour Hawaii Vacation Trend

Mark Twain called Hawaii, “that peaceful land, that beautiful land... the climate, one long delicious summer day, and the good that die experience no change, for they but fall asleep in one heaven and wake up in another."

Barack Obama escapes to the fiftieth state as a place to find serenity, history, culture, and friends. Shaved ice, volcanoes, gardens may all be found on these islands or simply relax on the beach and rent a moped to travel on. Explore Pearl Harbor on Oahu or escape to one of the other islands and enjoy.

Washington DC, Illinois and Chicago, and Hawaii regions just may be new trends in vacations with a new Presidential influence this year, 2009. Hey, discover these new destinations with excitement and fun! Thank you Mr. Obama with these new regions for the American vacations.
