The wildly popular Simpsons characters like Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa and Maggie will ride with the visitors at Universal Studios Orlando. This new attraction will replace the Back to the Future ride there, and is scheduled to open in spring 2008.
For the many SImpsons fans, both young and old, this will be a great draw to the Orlando theme park attraction. Not only is there the ride, but general Simpsons swag and Simpsons coolness will surely be part of the experience (bring plenty of cash, because there's no Try 'n Save here).
Universal developed the rides in Orlando and Hollywood with Simpsons Creator and Executive Producer Matt Groening, as well as Simpsons Executive Producer James L. Brooks. The ride itself will feature many of the show's characters, and the characters will be voiced by the actors who play them on TV.
"Guests will be rocketed along with the Simpson family on a hysterical, almost unimaginable adventure," according to a press release from Universal. "They’ll experience a side of Springfield previously unexplored as they enjoy the new ride’s interpretation of thrill rides, dark rides and “live” shows that make up a new fantasy amusement park dreamed up by the show’s cantankerous Krusty the Clown."
There aren't many official revelations about precisely what the ride will involve, but Groening describes it this way: "The ride is designed to duplicate the Simpsons home-viewing experience, only at high speed and with lots of screaming."
The ride is schedule to open spring 2008 in two locations, Universal Orlando Resort and Universal Studios Hollywood.
Choosing a location to hit the Simpsons ride will probably depend heavily on which side of the country you live. Weather shouldn't really be a factor, as both locations have mild temperatures year-round.
