There are many hotels that give lip service to being family-friendly, but few can boast as much catering to families (and allure for kids) as indoor water park hotels.
Here are some of the top indoor water park hotels:
- Zehnder's Splash Village in Frankenmuth, Mich. offers family suites that sleep four to six people, and feature microwave, mini-fridge, flat screen TV, and fireplace. Water rides range from four-story-tall slide tubes to relaxing hot tubs. As a bonus, it's near Bronner's, the world's largest Christmas shop.
- Delta Chelsea Toronto may not feature a full-scale indoor water park, but just an indoor pool with a four-story water slide. But that combines with other family amenities like free or discounted meals, a "kid's essentials kit," children's theater babysitting, strollers available for a deposit, the children's creative center and kid's camp activities. Plus, sports-fan families with love its proximity to hockey attractions like the Air Canada Centre and the Hockey Hall of Fame.
- Caribbean Cove Water Park in Indianapolis features body slides, tube slides and a leisure river. On the down side, code prohibits the hotel from allowing more than five guests per room. NASCAR-loving families will enjoy a stop at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Hall of Fame and a bus tour on the actual track.
- Great Wolf Lodge, with ten locations in the U.S. and Canada, is the ultimate family-friendly indoor water park hotel. It features fun suites, including some which have cabin-like rooms with bunkbeds for the kids and others with whirlpools and fireplaces for parents to enjoy. The indoor water parks are immense.
- Kalahari Resort has ideal locations in Wisconsin Dells (a vertible water park-lover's paradise) and Sandusky (featuring two other indoor water parks including Great Wolf Lodge and popular Cedar Point Amusement Park). What's great is it is one of the rare hotels that can truly sleep everyone, including a 3-bedroom suite for up to 12 people. Kids will enjoy the water park, and parents can take in some spa treatments.

Michelle Snow :
I've stayed at the Great Wolf and Kalahari in the Dells. I thought the Kalahari had the better water park, overall, but the Great Wolf had the better facilities for children under 10.

Yes, the Wisconsin Dells are just a great place to go for water parks in general. Methinks an article is coming...
