Family AdventuresPoll Discussion
» desertblue - Family Trips I see a lot of people are picking the RV travel option in the poll. Not having kids myself, I am wondering why this option? I guess it's nice to have everyone confined to a safe space, but with a little room to spread out. Everyone can carry out interesting activities while their is driving going on, and no checking in and out of hotels, or worying about strangers. Are these reasonable assumptions? I picked Cruise travel for a similar theory - a safe, confined space with lots of activities and food/leisure options. You never really worry about kids being kidnapped off a cruise ship, and there is a lot of space to not be so kid-centric (for the adults to have some actual time too). I also know cruises have lots of structured and unstructured kid activities. As far as Disney, that sounds like A LOT OF WORK amd exhausting. but what do I know? LOL! -- posted by desertblue

It is interesting. I have traveled to many exotic places as a family, but I still think it would be fun to do the RV road trip. I would imagine it also has to do with convenience. With enough kids, if you can cook your own meals and not deal with paying extra for more hotel rooms, that's a huge savings. And, as you mentioned, it's surely more secure. » desertblue - Family Trips In response to Family Trips posted by kelbycarr:I like how you added an article on cruising with families. -- posted by desertblue » angeladalecki - Family Trips In response to Family Trips posted by desertblue:"As far as Disney, that sounds like A LOT OF WORK amd exhausting. but what do I know? No, I think it makes perfect sense. When you are child-free, you take it for granted that you CAN make plans, so you don't. You just sit at home, maybe rent a movie. When you have children, there is no such thing as a spontaneous outing. It has to be planned. You get less of them, but you are so relieved to have the one-on-one time, you really pay attention and put effort into it. It's sort of the difference between gulping down a bowl of ice cream versus savoring every bite. It's the same bowl, but two totally different experiences.
