» Feature Writer Kelby Carr - Have you flown with a stroller?

What have your experiences been?

I still recall a long trans-Atlantic flight through Air France. They let me check the stroller at the gate, but then they didn't give it to me as I disembarked... After wrestling with my daughter for the whole flight (and being stupid enough not to get her her own seat), I had to then carry a squirmy, cranky toddler all the way through the maze-like tunnel. I snarled at the stewardess, when she said where my stroller was: "Then you can carry my baby!!" Heheh. Not a good experience, to say the least.

Anyone else have any horror stories about flying with babies or toddlers?

When my kids were still in strollers, I had a car seat-stroller (FDA certified) that was ideal. Stroll the kid up to her seat on the plane, collapse the stroller into being the car seat, buckle her in and give her the new Play-Doh. I HAVE, however, had a bad Air France experience, same as you! happy What is it with that airline!

We actually checked into the Sit 'n Stroll before moving to Europe (since we wouldn't have our own car), but I had heard it is a pain to install in the car. Is this what you had? How did you like it?

Yeah, I don't know what the deal is with Air France!! Heheh. Actually, I've had good experiences with them otherwise, but man was I ticked. It was a pretty long walk (a rather long terminal), and it was NOT fun! Plus, my daughter was always big, so at that time she weighed over 30 pounds (which feels like 60 when a baby is squirming), and hubby had our carry-ons, so he couldn't really help.
