I just got a minivan... Do you have one? How do you like it and what do you hate about it? What made you decide to buy one? Or have you considered buying a minivan?

I don't have a minivan, but I rented one for a long trip, and the pull-down DVD player was a lifesaver. Although, this was a couple weeks ago already, and I still can't get the "Aladdin" songs out of my head...

Hahah! I know what you mean. I still have "Max & Ruby" theme song in my head from the ride home today. Love that DVD player, though!

I don't think they are uncool at all. But then again, i like any car I can sleep/live in, pile my camping/climbing/kayaking/rock climbing/biking gear in. the DVD is a plus too. last xmas, Dan and I watched the entire new Battlestar Galactica series on our laptops in his Pathfinder, while we camped for a week in Joshua Tree Nat Park. An atual DVD player would have been lovely.

Yeah...except while parked, I think the laptop DVD is probably better... you won't have to use the car battery.
I would have loved to get an Element, especially with the cool tent attachment you can get... and with the fact they have the no-carpet, wash-with-a-hose floors. They also have the doors that open wide (closing against one another), which would rock for handling kids in the back. It also has outstanding safety ratings.

The problem is they have no bucket seat option for the back, so I didn't even want to get it when I had one child (since I couldn't put her in the center). Now, with three car seats, there is no way to use it since they only seat two in the back.

Honda needs to get a grip and figure out they have a vehicle that is almost perfect for families (especially moms like me who still want to get a fun car), and add this option. Duh! They would open up an entire demographic that happens to have more money for new cars than the 21-year-old male they targeted with the Element. And it would only require the slightest design change or option.

I like the Element - i think it looks cool, like a styly tank.

But large cars aside, I myself drive a Ford Escort Wagon. Ths way I can still sleep and camp in it, and it is GREAT on gas. Plus it's a beater so I feel cool by default. but that's just me. Some people like new-looking cars. I like something that looks like I've used the hell out of it over dirt roads and baja beaches. happy

Haha! My first car was an Escort. My friends nicknamed it the Beast. I sure beat up that car!

I got it cheap in AZ: it was caught in a hailstorm and it was totally pockmarked.

Then Dan scraped the entire side with a trailer as he backed it out of the driveway. to sum: it looks like total shit. I still love it. I call it The Puppy.

I DID have a very nice new red truck once...and was very uncomfortable. it was too nice. I actually went and traded it in for my current 1980 Ford RV. they got the better deal but I just couldn't handle a nice new car. I must be a freak. happy
